From the time she got engaged, my sister had discussed plans with me to have an engagement session done. About two weeks ago, we finally made it happen! Her and her fiance flew in from Alberta and went in front of my camera. Their time in town was limited, so we had the session on a beautiful sunny Friday evening. You know what happens here in Vancouver when there’s super nice weather going on… Deer Lake Park was an extra busy day as there were parts sectioned off for a concert along with a wedding happening practically beside it. Add a bunch of passersby to the mix and it was quite an active scene at times, but we have to do what we have to do and we did it! I captured more engagement photos for them two days later, but for now, enjoy these ones. Their wedding is next year and I can’t express how excited I am for them!
Here are some photos from Alysha and Young’s first wedding. Yes, you read that right – this happy couple has a plan for a bigger wedding on the same date next year! This first one was held at Burnaby Mountain and it was the most intimate wedding I’ve had the honor of photographing to date. A warm sunny day, surrounded by family members and close friends, making the promise to spend the rest of their lives together…what more can one ask for? :) There were many laughs throughout the afternoon and I’m so happy I got to be a part of it!
I loved Young’s reaction as he saw his bride for the first time during their First Look.
Alysha’s pretty wedding dress was a labor of love, made by her mom.
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Vancouver has been having some super awesome sun-filled days which makes for lots of photography opportunities. I actually don’t remember the last time we had so many warm sunny days consecutively, so you can bet that I’m making the most of all this! I love being able to walk around with my camera in hand, having nice conversations with my couples, and getting to know them a little more before their wedding day. It’s always a treat for me to be able to get a peek into their love story!
Meet Alysha and Young, one of my couples for this year’s wedding season. They are such a sweet + fun couple and were up for anything, which is always great. For their engagement session, they chose to have their shoot in Coal Harbour, where they had their first date and where they continue to go for frequent walks. A gorgeous day on a Friday evening after work hours…as you can imagine, it was chaotic with tons of people everywhere, but nonetheless, we managed it and I had an awesome time to boot, despite the fact that I was already full term with my pregnancy. Nine days later on a Sunday, Alysha and Young had their intimate wedding with huge plans for a bigger wedding next year. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them!
Upon being one of the very first to learn late last year that I was expecting a baby, a good childhood friend of mine immediately said she would like to have the honor of throwing me a baby shower. Magdalena hosted my co-ed shower last Sunday and both J and I were joined by our lovely friends and family to celebrate this special time in my life. My family even drove 12 whole hours from Alberta just to attend — we feel so fortunate and thankful for their never-ending care and support.
As of today, there’s less than two months left until we welcome baby into this world. I can’t believe how quickly time flies by! J and I have been busy physically and mentally preparing for the last seven months and we would like to think we are more than ready for baby’s arrival. Still, I am a little sad that my pregnancy journey is coming to an end soon. Although the beginning was a bit rough with my
Thank you so much Magdalena, for hosting, for planning, for the hours you and Peter put into making food and cleaning up, and especially for making this shower possible, and thank you to my sister Celia, for the beautiful dessert table. Joined by such supportive friends and family, I was overwhelmed with lots of love and joy.
Lastly, J and I would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone for attending and for all your gifts. You guys are so so generous and with everything that we received, we have no need to run out and buy anything baby-related ourselves! Not even one item so far (okay, I bought two onesies just because they were adorable, but they’re not considered “essentials” since we’ve been gifted so many already)…even the crib and stroller were taken care of. Baby is lucky to have so many amazing aunties, uncles, and grandparents. We love you guys!

I love my sisters!
Photos taken by myself after getting home, Magdalena crafted the diaper cake (left) full of useful items such as diapers of course, paper towels, pacifiers, and muslin wraps. Celia created the adorable elephant-on-a-diaper-bike (right) out of useful baby stuff as well such as socks, a bib, cloths, blankets, and more. I didn’t want to take these apart!
