MENU

I take a relaxed approach to newborn photography. I'm not one for stiff posing or awkward smiles. I like movement, real laughter, and lots of love. I aim to make newborn sessions as stress-free as possible so we can focus on the most important thing - your family loving on the littlest new member, in the house you've made your home.

The best images are created when families have zero expectations and go with the flow. Relax, embrace whatever comes, laugh, and have loads of fun. Every shoot is unique because every family is unique. Your session is all about YOU and capturing your life exactly how it is on the day of your shoot.

Newborn Session Info

WHERE SHOULD WE SHOOT?

Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. We will be using the brightest rooms and those are usually your living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and nursery/baby's room.

HOW DO BOOKING DATES WORK?

Once you're booked in, simply let me know after you've delivered (around the time when you announce to family and friends is perfect!). I will get back to you with some available dates on my end within the next few weeks.

WHAT TIME SHOULD WE SHOOT?

I recommend taking a few days to study the light in your home. The best time to shoot is when the light is the brightest. That makes for very pretty and natural looking images.

WHAT IF MY BABY IS FUSSY?

As a mother myself, I totally understand that babies are rather unpredictable. If your baby is fussy, we will take a break so you can comfort him/her and perhaps do some feeding. We will continue once baby is happier.

HOW SHOULD WE PREPARE?

- I always recommend feeding baby before the session (start around 5 minutes before my arrival). That way they're content and sleepy. However, and this is very important, before you start feeding, please make sure they're already changed into the outfit you want them photographed in. It would be a shame to undo all your hard work of feeding to sleep just to wake them up again to change.

- In cooler weather, turn up the heat as baby will sleep better in a warm room.

- If there's anything you would like to be used in the shoot (e.g. change of baby clothes, swaddles, headbands, accessories, etc.), gather them up so they're all ready to go. Some parents love having their babies just in a diaper and/or swaddle at least for some photos.

You don't have to go nuts cleaning, but it does help a lot of the background is clutter-free. As mentioned above, we'll be using the brightest rooms in the house, so making sure those rooms are clean and photo shoot ready will greatly help.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

The first rule of thumb is to dress like yourself. Wear something you feel awesome and beautiful in. Having said that, there are some tips to follow which can take your images from good to simply ahh-mazing.

GOOD:

+ Casual

+ Neutrals and earthy tones

+ Natural fabrics

+ Flowy and lots of movement

+ Texture

+ 3-4 color palette maximum

BAD:

- Big patterns

- Logos

- Bright colors

- Too much white (ivory/cream/beige is a better choice)

- Snug fitting clothes

- Runners
